Skyroot First Indian Aerospace On Mark To Race With Competitors Blue Origin and SpaceX. Skyroot main goal is to make the space sector cost-effective.

History Of Aviation Industry Start And India Role.

Soon after world war II how the aviation industry started. And today how the United States, Russia, France and Britain are ruling the aviation industry. Its always said that “history repeats again and again” it’s correct.

If we go back in time we can see the airline industry started its race soon after world war II. There were many companies which revolutionalized with the speed, Capacity and also use of airline for commercial service.

In today’s world its space exploration time. Well, India could not do much because we had seen our independence back then. The country was struggling with a shortage of food. Because of unbearable British Loot In India, we suffered a lot and it was trying to overcome the problem.

But Today Everything has changed in India and its time to showcase the real might to the world.

Let’s Start With Comparison With SpaceX and BlueOrigin.

Lets only keep the initial days of the test of SpaceX and BlueOrgin so that we can understand our program.

I know Skyroot is our pride and we should not compare with any other Company or Country. But this is for those people who ask you and think that our programs are inferior to any other programs of the world. So let’s Begin.

SpaceX Falcon Series

SpaceX found by Elon Musk in 2002. Which had strong moto to create a reusable rocket to reduce the cost of space exploration.

After starting in 2002 it started and developing its own technology which took them 4 years.

Success Mission Comes After Series Failure

t named its first reusable vehicle has Falcon 1. Powered by a single Merlin Engine, Falcon 1 launched on 24 March 2006 with all dreams of SpaceX attached with it.
And a payload of 19.5Kg mass FalconSAT-2. But it failed to see the orbit and complete lost after lunch.

After a year that is on March 2007, SpaceX launched again with new changes and hope. But this time too failed to reach orbit at least this time maximal altitude 289 km reached.

Falcon-1 Failed again in the year 2008.

With its must-do intension, this time on 28 Sep 2008 with a payload of 165 Kg Falcon-1 lunched again. This time it was carrying a dummy payload to illustrate orbital insertion.

Falcon-1 final lunch was the fifth mission that was carrying Malaysian Razaksat in it. After its fifth lunch Falcon-1 was retired.

Falcon 1 Overview.

Falcon 1 powered by Marlin 1A with the initial thrust of 318 KN. But after 2 failure it got replaced with Marlin 1C whos initial thurst was 343KN. Number one in Falcon states that it was using single-engine.
Now, let’s focus on the Marlin 1C Rocket Engine Lunch Vehicle only.

  • Height: 22.25m
  • Initial thrust: 343KN.
  • Payload (LEO) : 185 KG. Capacity.

Blue Origin Dreams To Live In Space.

Blue origin found in the year 2000 by Jeff Bezos. Well, the company started before SpaceX start.
Jeff Bezos who is a multibillionaire and also CEO of amazon well what can we say he is an icon.
Blue Origin name itself tells you what is intention and dream of Jeff Bezos.

Yes, what if you go and started leaving in space tomorrow and after some year spending there. You will end up marrying a person in space and even have children there. Now one day your children will ask you where you were born and you tell them by showing at planet earth “See that is the Blue planet which is our Origin”. Hence proved “Blue Origin” wow I am so genius I should tell my mom about this. Let’s come back to the track.

Blue Origin Initial Mission

Blue Origin never disclosed any information to the public. Only on 5 March, 2005 Blue Origin tested Charon which was using jet engine rather rocket engine. Charon flew to an altitude of 96M. This test is nowhere related to reusable lunch vehicle.

After Charon test, Blue Origin on Nov 13, 2006, tested Goddard which was successful. Even the test was on Lunch vehicle. Blue Origin moduled all lunch vehicle individual structure and started testing I guess. Instead of complete development and end up failing. It opted to test small modules of the big lunch vehicle first.

On 29th April 2015 first mission New Shepard 1 launched. Liftoff was successful but booster crashed on landing and Capsule Recovered.

Again 23 Nov 2015 New Shepard 2 created History by performing vertical landing.

Lot of things Blue Origin has not disclosed and maintained has secret. so we do not have

  • Payload: capsule designed for six people
  • Engine: After Series of BE 1 which was 8.9 KN of Thrust and BE2 which was generating 140KN of Thrust. BE3 inducted into New Shepard1 which was generating 440KN of Initial Thrust.

These two companies models have given very good learning platform for Skyroot. Lets now see our Skyroot Program.

Skyroot First Indian Aerospace Lunch

Skyroot First Indian Aerospace has announced to lunch its rocket by December 2021. All thou Skyroot is not testing any Reusable lunch vehicle. But Skyroot has told payload insertion into Low Earth Orbit will be $15,000 per kg. Which is very less compared to other private space industry.

Skyroot after its first lunch may think of the reusable lunch vehicle. Now to lunch its first vehicle that is Vikram 1 it will be using ISRO test site facility.

Which will be again cost-effective because of already ISRO test site present, need not construct own.

Vikram Overview

Skyroot has 3 varients based on its payload capacity. These payloads will be assembled and launched within 24 hr to 72hr. Only Vikram III uses extra solid rocket booster.

Vikram I Payload :

  • 225 Kg to 500Km SSPO(Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit).
  • 315 Kg to 45-degree inclination 500 Km LEO.

Vikram IIPayload:

  • 410 kg to 500 Km SSPO.
  • 520 kg to 45-degree inclination 500Km LEO.

Vikram IIIPayload:

  • 580Kg to 500 Km SSPO.
  • 720 kg to 45-degree inclination 500Km LEO.

Based on this payload overview we can find that Skyroot focused on smaller satellite.


Skyroot First Indian Aerospace payload weight is telling us that this can be a game-changer in the space sector. Because when SpaceX and Blue Origin started its journey it did not start with big.

If we see SpaceX the initial payload capacity was only 185 Kg that to it only carried 165kg payload to show. Where in Blue Origin made modules and tested it instead of testing a complete big rocket.

Even the time is taken by these company to lunch its first rocket is more. Blue Origin has taken almost 15 years to lunch its first Reusable Vehicle.

So, in short, its time which gives you strength and it can’t. Future research can yield more progress for Skyroot. Hope they achieve all progress wishing them best of luck.
